Common STD Symptoms for Men

For men that are sexually active, they would know that Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are serious threats to them. Despite the awareness created for the existence of these STDs, infection with these diseases is still on the increase. There are several types of these diseases and the most common ones in men are gonorrhea, genital herpes, syphilis, Chlamydia and AIDS. Abstinence has been pronounced as the best preventive measure although there are other preventive measures too. The use of a condom can greatly reduce the risk of contracting any of these diseases and can prevent the pain and shame that can even be caused by a potentially lethal STD.

When once contracted, there are many symptoms of STDs that would be able to spell out the condition in which a man has a found himself. Perhaps the first sign that an STD has been contracted would be a burning or a piercing sensation that would be experienced. The agonizing pain experienced during this period makes urination a nightmare for such men that are affected. Usually there are discharges that are passed along with the urine that look like pus. These discharges may be green, yellow, gray or white in color.

Among other common STD symptoms for men include the presence of warts that may be flat, bumpy, raised or even smooth that grow on the genitals and around the genital area. The testicles of men that are infected may swell up and could become tender and painful to touch too.
